Creating technical drawings by hand — placing base views, setting orientations and scales, adding a parts list, naming the file, repeating it for every component — is some of the most repetitive work in Inventor. Drawing Maker is an Autodesk Inventor add-in that generates part, sheet-metal, and assembly drawings automatically from reusable layout presets, turning hours of drafting into a single batch run. Start from a document browser: scan the active assembly and filter its components, or add parts and assemblies from disk. Pick exactly the documents that need drawings, choose a layout preset, and generate. Each preset defines the views (type, orientation, and position on the sheet), the sheet size, the scale mode, optional view dimensions, and whether a parts list is included — so every drawing comes out consistent with your standards. Ten presets ship built in and cover the common scenarios: Standard 4-View and 3-View, Isometric Only, Front and Isometric, Flat Pattern (centered, with dimensions), Largest Face (auto-oriented to the largest planar face), Assembly Overview and Assembly with BOM (with parts lists), and two multi-part layouts that arrange several parts per sheet in a grid or as isometric views. You can edit any of these or create your own. Output is fully configurable. Choose a custom drawing template to carry your title block and styles, set the output folder and folder structure, and use template-driven file naming so generated drawings are named the way your shop expects. Multi-part settings decide whether you get one drawing per source or several parts combined onto shared sheets.
