Design copying is essential for efficient engineering workflows. Reusing an existing design as a starting point for a new project can turn days or weeks of work into minutes. Copy Design is an Autodesk Inventor add-in that makes copying assemblies with their full component hierarchies fast and reliable — without requiring Vault. Add individual documents or entire folders as sources. The add-in scans the full assembly tree automatically and presents every component in a structured tree view or flat list. Standard parts and content center files are detected and marked as reuse, so they stay referenced instead of duplicated. Flexible naming rules let you apply templates with sequence numbering, prefix, suffix, and find-and-replace substitutions. You can define separate rules for assemblies, parts, and drawings, or use a single shared rule. Output can maintain the original directory structure or flatten everything into a single folder. A preview dialog shows every source-to-target mapping before anything is copied. A deep linked-drawing search finds drawings that don't share a filename with their model. It scans configurable search roots and extra directories, so drawings stored in separate locations are included automatically.
